Mercurie Studios is ever growing, changing, producing, and learning. The Companion is here to pick up on all of our projects, shenanigans, stories, reviews, and anything else we come across that's worth sharing. Mercurie itself stands for the production for creative endeavors, and having a place to feature discussions on those endeavors, and to showcase them, seemed only fitting. In this first installment, we wanted to talk a little bit more about who and what we are, and share what we aim to do… and how YOU can be a part of it all.
What is Mercurie?
Mercurie Studios was founded in 2021 with the idea that art is worth sharing, and it is the best way to connect us to each other and to our world. While our main goal is to eventually produce theater shows, events, concerts, art shows, and cabarets on a regular basis, we love side projects and just being able to share with our community. Art is subjective, and I see it in everything we do. There is art in cooking, in podcasting, in movement, in the written word, and the performed ones as well.
We hope to share and highlight some of our favorite stories, artists from the community, and work united. Ultimately, the goal of Mercurie Studios is to have a safe place for people to come together, enjoy themselves, and maybe find or learn something new.
Why call it Mercurie?
Mercurie is derived from the Roman god Mercury, as well as my last name, Mercurio. Mercury is the god of communication, the god of commerce and the god of weary travelers. My life has been about bringing people to the theater, communicating to them stories in various forms - whether I am performing for them, directing the show myself, or anything in between. To find someone and help them find some relaxation, distraction, or even a learning opportunity has been something that I have always felt I strangely excelled at, and the passion I have for what I have been able to do so far, really pushed me into making the decision to start this dream of mine.
So… What's Next?
The first season of our first podcast, Whats That Show About Buffalo, has ended, and we are looking to start it back up in the new year. We have some scripts (shhhh… don't tell!) in the works by some local writers and are looking for venues that would be interested in hosting our creative endeavors. Stick around for our journey, and maybe one of our upcoming projects will peak your interest! Is there anything you have dreamed about doing, or do you have anything you want to promote? Send us a message or comment, and perhaps you’ll be featured in the next blog post!
